CU Boulder Wolf Law Building

University of Colorado Boulder

Boulder, Colorado

The five-story, 184,000 SF Wolf Law Building is one of the first LEED-certified law schools in the country. In addition to classrooms and support spaces, the world-class facility houses two high-tech courtrooms: one for symposia, class meetings, conferences, ceremonial events, and other large gatherings; the other is used for classes, moot court competitions, and litigation training. Wolf Law’s 59,000 SF William A. Wise Law Library is the most comprehensive law library in the Rocky Mountain region.

RMH was responsible for both the initial mechanical design and a redesign to obtain LEED Gold certification. The highly efficient HVAC system features direct/indirect evaporative cooling, carbon dioxide monitoring for demand ventilation, variable-air-volume systems, variable-speed-drive chiller, premium-efficiency equipment, and use of efficiently produced steam from the campus’ central plant. The plumbing system—utilizing only water-conserving fixtures—yields a water-use profile that is 30-40% better than city standards.
