DIRECTV

Castle Rock, Colorado

The Castle Rock Broadcast Center, the first all-digital broadcast facility in North America, continues to play an important role in the advancement of broadcast satellite service. From this facility, DIRECTV receives and compiles satellite and fiber-optic transmissions, which are then uplinked to broadcasting satellites to deliver programming to individual users. Much of the facility is occupied by technical functions, such as a broadcast operations center, dubbing and editing rooms, control rooms, and high-power amplifier rooms. Numerous uplink and tracking antennas, a generator building, and a telemetry, tracking, and control station are also located on the 10-acre campus. RMH was responsible for the original design and has since participated in several building additions and numerous technological upgrades to meet the evolving needs of this fast-changing industry.
