The Warrior Transition Barracks comprises the housing portion of the Warrior Transition Battalion located on the Fort Hood campus. The primary mission of the Warrior Transition Battalion is to provide soldiers recuperating from injuries sustained during military service with a place to heal and to, ultimately, transition back to civilian or military life. The five-story, 192,723 SF housing complex can accommodate up to 320 soldiers and contains ancillary spaces for laundry and recreational activities. This LEED-Silver-certified project features a number of sustainable technologies including dedicated outside air units with heat recovery, 97%-efficient water heaters, solar thermal arrays for domestic water heating, low-flow water fixtures, and energy-efficient lighting.
