Lighting & Daylighting
Lighting and daylighting are critical components of a sustainable design. Since lighting typically accounts for 30 percent of a building’s total energy use, using advanced lighting and daylighting strategies can significantly decrease a building’s energy consumption. In addition, the right amount and type of lighting is key to a person’s comfort and general well-being.
Our lighting/daylighting designers apply their thorough understanding of lighting principles and technologies to design systems that save energy and improve the indoor environment. With in-house computer modeling, we study how different daylight management strategies affect the quantity and quality of light in a space. This analysis fosters a carefully crafted design attuned to a building’s unique characteristics and our client’s functional requirements.
