    The St. Vrain Sanitation District serves an estimated 10,000 residents and businesses over a 130-square-mile portion of Weld County, Colorado. To meet the increasing wastewater treatment demands of this fast-growing region, the District initiated an expansion project to double the capacity of the St. Vrain Wastewater Treatment Plant from 3 million gallons per day (MGD) to 6 MGD. The RMH Group served as the HVAC/plumbing engineer for the initial phase of this expansion project involving three new buildings:  a solids building, an operations building, and a garage/storage facility. The solids building houses a solids separation/dewatering area, a UV disinfection area, ATAD reactors, an SNDR tank, a solids storage area, a chemical feed room, and a small lab. The operations building contains offices, a training/conference room, a lab, a control center, a spare parts storage area, an equipment maintenance area, and a break room. To help reduce building energy consumption, the solids building features evaporative cooling and an energy recovery system, while the operations building utilizes an earth-coupled heat pump system and energy recovery ventilation.
