Sustainable BARKitecture Doghouse Competition Featured on Fox 31 Denver

October 4, 2017

Fox 31 Denver aired a story  on the Sustainable BARKitecture Doghouse Competition featuring 16 sustainably designed doghouses that were primarily designed and built by local A/E/C firms. The doghouses will be display on the plaza between the Westin hotel and Jeppesen Terminal through October 9. Voting in the doghouse competition will continue online through October 5, and an awards ceremony will be held at the airport plaza on October 9.

The RMH Group teamed with Davis Partnership Architects and Fransen Pittman to design and construct their entry in the competition. The RMH/Davis Partnership/Fransen Pittman doghouse features fire-treated beetle kill lumber with a fire-resistant roof made from reclaimed steel, insulated glass vision panels and copper gutters for rain collection, “phase change” materials that actively absorb or release heat to maintain a consistently comfortable temperature, and solar-powered fan and dampers to provide cooling and heating as needed.
